Diagnosis and Orthopedic Medicine of the Spine
Location: NUNM Campus, Portland, Oregon
Description: This course will focus on appropriate diagnosis and interventional techniques of the spine. This hybrid course has pre-recorded lectures reviewing how to read and interpret ultrasound, XR, and MRI of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The hands-on and in-person portion of the training involves a complete physical exam review and correlating that with clinical presentation. Finally, we will discuss, train, and demonstrate interventions for each of the most common diagnoses of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
Lectures:

-XR AND MRI REVIEW OF CERVICAL SPINE: normal and clinically relevant findings (1.5 HR)

-XR AND MRI REVIEW OF THORACIC SPINE: normal and clinically relevant findings (0.5 HR)

-XR AND MRI REVIEW OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE: normal and clinically relevant findings (1.5 HR)

-ULTRASOUND CERVICAL AND THORACIC SPINE: normal and clinically relevant findings (1.5 HR)

-ULTRASOUND LUMBOSACRAL SPINE: normal and clinically relevant findings (1.5 HR)

We will also have hands-on physical examinations, case studies, and entry-level injection training.

March 2025: Image-guided interventions of the spine

Description: This hybrid course will have pre-recorded lectures regarding clinical indications, safety, and how to perform ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided interventions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The hands-on portion will involve supervised hands-on practice of common ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided interventions of the spine.

 

Summer 2025: AANP Post Con: Ultrasound Guided Nerve Blocks and Hydrodissection of the Upper Extremity

 

Oct 2025: Diagnosis and Orthopedic Medicine of the Upper Extremity

Description: This course will focus on appropriate diagnosis and interventional techniques of the upper extremity. This hybrid course has pre-recorded lectures reviewing how to read and interpret ultrasound, XR, and MRI of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist/hand. The hands-on and in-person portion of the training will involve a complete physical exam review and correlating that with clinical presentation. Finally, we will discuss, train, and demonstrate interventions for each of the most common shoulder, elbow, and wrist/hand diagnoses.

 

March 2026: Advanced Sonoanatomy and Ultrasound Guided Interventions of the Upper Extremity

Description: As the next course in our ultrasound-guided interventions of the upper extremity series, this course will cover more advanced son anatomy and ultrasound-guided targets and techniques. This course will cover the shoulder, elbow, and wrist/hand. This course is designed for participants already practicing ultrasound-guided interventions in their day-to-day clinical practice. Beginners should take the NOMA Sonoanatomy and Ultrasound Guided Interventions of the Upper Extremity recorded lectures and request a proctor to complete the supervised hands-on portion. Completion of the foundational level course, followed by applying the foundational techniques in the clinic, should be completed prior to registering for this course.

The hands-on and in-person portion of the training will involve a complete physical exam review and correlating that with clinical presentation. Finally, we will discuss, train, and demonstrate interventions for each of the most common hip, knee, and ankle/foot diagnoses.

 

March 2027: Advanced Sonoanatomy and Ultrasound Guided Interventions of the Lower Extremity

Description: As the next course in our ultrasound-guided interventions of the lower extremity series, this course will cover more advanced son anatomy and ultrasound-guided targets and techniques. This course will cover the hip, knee, and ankle/foot. This course is designed for participants who have already been practicing ultrasound-guided interventions in their day-to-day clinical practice. Oct 2027: Advanced Image-Guided Interventions of the Knee

This advanced course will cover and train participants in advanced ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided injections for the knee. This will include percutaneous ACL and intraosseous injections.
