The NOMA Diplomate (NOMAD) is being crafted to distinguish the highest level of orthopedic knowledge and experience within our profession. It will consist of hands-on training requirements, clinical experience, case studies, and a written exam. We will be taking applications starting in the spring of 2024 and the first written exam will be held in the spring of 2025. See below for the outline. 

What is a NOMAD?

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Active NOMA membership

  2. 1 of the following; 

    1. At least 2 year residency (applicable fields include pain management, interventional orthopedics, or orthobiologic medicine; NOT naturopathic primary care, IV therapy, or aesthetics) 

    2. OR 50 hours post graduate CE within last 3 years related to MSK diagnosis, MSK intervention, orthobiologics

  3. 1 of the following; 

    1. At least 2 year residency (applicable fields include pain management, interventional orthopedics, or orthobiologic medicine; NOT naturopathic primary care, IV therapy, or aesthetics) with at least 250 cases of supervised interventions 

    2. OR 32 hours post graduate CE hands on image injection training

  4. Complete 200 question board examination (TBD Spring 2025)

  5. Agree to only practice to that level which you have been trained and within the respective scope depending your local jurisdiction

  6. Submission of 5 cases that are peer reviewed by expert panel (if you publish a study or research paper relevant to the field in a peer reviewed journal, this can count as 3 cases):

-Lower extremity

-Upper extremity

-Lumbosacral spine

-Cervical spine

-Applicant’s choice

    7. Recertification every 10 years
